Do you remember that scene in ‘The Shining’? The one where Jack Nicholson is trying to get some writing done. Well I wouldn't exactly class that as a good example of parenting. I’m trying to find that quite time that clear space in my head, where I can let the story flow. Its already been established that I can draw anywhere on my phone and I recon I could illustrate in an earthquake quite happily without getting too distracted. But writing I need the clear space in my head, I need some peace and quiet and I think the only way I'm gonna be able to do this is to get up super early, before anyone else, and that means getting to bed probably before anyone else too. Or getting to bed at the same time as my daughter. But lots of creative people I have found, find this early morning, first thing in the morning kind of thing is the perfect opportunity to get the creative writing done.

While I'm on time management, I'm going to give you my three time creation hacks - not click bait.

1. Stop mindlessly scrolling social media. That doesn't mean you can't scroll social media, but I think it just means that maybe you should be mindful as you go about it..
2. I am completely cutting out TV, books and movies until I actually get to a point where I'm happy with what I'm getting done.
3. The art of saying no and I'm not really very good at this but I am getting better.

I have come up with a new thing, a new I don't know what you call it, a thing. It's called the - If This, Then That Schedule - which I can't pronounce very well because I have a problem saying things like this, that and then. So what it is, if your schedule is all over the place, if your time is all over the place, you wake up in the morning and you can't look in your diary go okay so that's how my day is gonna roll, my day is just gonna roll how it rolls and I've got a roll with it or suffer. So I think the if this that then - if this then that schedule which means that certain times a day, Like going for a jog, when my daughter sleeping, all those kinds of little times when I can get other work done, I know as soon as that time crops up, I know what I'm doing.

So finishing up on the week of time management, and I seem to have been running out of time lately, because I didn't get, I’ve only got one drawing of my kids book done so far I should have two by now. The first day I succeeded that day, but then the second day I got sick - what's with that? I seem to have this bit of a regular occurrence when new things happen like starting a new job - I get sick. Go away on holiday - I get sick. Or try and undertake a new project - I get sick. so I think with growth and trying to better yourself, with me anyway, always comes element of getting sick, so I'll have to look at it as a positive.
