This season we will be breeding our ultramel male to a pair of snakes that don't live at The Reptile Barn! Come along and meet my sister Katie and her two beautiful ball pythons.

Morph Identification time! Desert Ghost was the first morph we ever bought here at The Reptile Barn, so I decided to make a video explaining how this gene effects the phenotype of a ball python.

Colin wanted to give an update on our pair of Dominican Red Mountain Boas.

In this episode of Exploring Genetics, Colin talks about one of our favorite recessive genes: Citrus Ghost (aka Citrus Hypo).

Colin wants to give an update on our breeder females (including our pair of Dominican Red Mountain Boas!!) and walks through some of the signs we look for that they're progressing towards the end goal: super awesome clutches!

One concern that has stopped several people that we've spoken to from getting their family a pet snake is the belief that if you have any children under the age of 5 in the house, the risk of getting Salmonella from the reptile is incredibly high. Colin addresses how we keep our children (3yrs and younger) safe.

There are many reasons a reptile, especially a snake, stops eating for a time. The vast majority of these reasons are natural and nothing to worry about, but they certainly can stress out a new snake owner! We'll talk about what to watch for, when to worry and when not to worry, and some of the reasons why snakes decide to stop eating for a while!

Colin and Caleb cut our second clutch of eggs, a pairing of our Banana Green Pastel male to a Banana Cinnamon Female. We ended up with six absolutely beautiful little animals that all look healthy as can be!
