The 2017 Pikangikum Winter Cultural Festival utilized the ice roads and bring all the surrounding communities together. Communities on the ice road that are accessible to Pikangikum include Poplar Hill, North Spirit Lake, Deer Lake and Sandy Lake.
Some of the activities at the Winter Festival were traditional games, cultural teachings, multisport Team Ontario tryouts for NAIG and health & wellness activities.
The amazing team brought together included Pikangikum First Nation, ASWCO (Aboriginal Sport and Wellness Council of Ontario, NAIG (North Amreican Indigenous Games), OPP (Ontario Provincial Police), Project Journey, Whitefish Bay Singers and Great Lakes Cultural Camps.
This incredible opportunity was been made possible with the support of the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport.
