Former U.S. Rep. Jack Davis, who served a decade in the Illinois House and two years in Congress and was later an assistant secretary of the U.S. Air Force, died Sunday at his Springfield home. He was 82.
Davis, a Republican, lived in Will County while serving in the state legislature and when he was elected to the U.S. House in 1986. He and his wife of 58 years, Virginia, lived in and around Springfield in recent years.
Springfield is home of two of their three children — Leland Grove Mayor Jill Egizii and Associate Judge Jack Davis II. Their other child, Heather Davis Schenck, lives in Flossmoor. There are nine grandchildren.
